The Scarlet Bedchamber

Elegant bedchambers for VIP overnight guests

This north-facing bedchamber is situated within the central solid brick core of the manor home, completed in 1811 by Captain Thomas Pemberton of the 1st Regiment of Continental Light Dragoons as an addition to the original dwelling.  Captain Pemberton came into possession of the land as reward for his six years of military service during the Revolutionary War.

The Scarlet bedroom features a king-sized 4-post canopy bed, wood-burning fireplace, richly upholstered plush wingback armchairs with goose down cushions, antique writing desk, and a velvet antique couch.  Its windows to the north offer views upon the rolling hills of the surrounding countryside.

The spacious attached private bath is awash in natural light.  It features a tub-shower combination, lighted optical glass magnifying make-up and shaving mirror, and a vanity and settee among other amenities.
